Please join us Thursday, June 4th at The Barn at Fearrington Village for an incredible evening of food and music to benefit the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation, featuring the one and only Red Clay Ramblers! The evening starts at 5pm with drinks and socializing and we’ll serve an elevated BBQ supper starting at 5:30pm. At 7:30pm the Ramblers will take the stage with special guests including Tift Merritt and Don Dixon. Our MC’s Eric Montross and Freddy Jenkins will keep festivities lively and we’ll have a live auction for some incredible experiences and prizes graciously donated by folks in our community.
Tickets include food, music and fun and are $125 per person. We are offering a limited number of preferred seating tickets closer to the stage for $175 per person. You can purchase tickets here.

Four celebrities are donating unique local experiences that we will auction off at the event, with all proceeds going to the Foundation.
Gary Crunkleton, the owner of The Crunkelton on Franklin Street, will lead an intimate class on spirit knowledge, spirit tasting, and sensory experiences based on one of the world’s finest offering: Scotch whiskey. You and your five guests will learn how to see, smell, and taste Scotch – discerning distinctive characteristics of the ingredients, various regional distinctions and processes used in creating its complexity and great flavors. Guests will also examine how and why Scotch whiskey developed, and how its demand in the past has set the stage for its demand in the future.
Eric Montross, UNC Men’s Basketball Radio Color Analyst and Be Loud! Sophie board member, will give a group of eight guests a private tour of the Carolina Basketball Museum and an insider’s look into the Carolina basketball program. There’s nothing like hearing his stories of how Coach Smith ran practices or NBA all-stars coming back to Chapel Hill to play summer pick-up games. The museum features artifacts, videos, photos, and historical panels that highlight the history of the Carolina Basketball program and many of its greatest games.
Andrea Reusing has generously donated a 5 course dinner for 4 people with wine pairings at her fabulous Lantern Restaurant. What will you order? The garlic and black pepper softshell crab with roasted chiles and lemongrass as an appetizer? Perhaps the crispy whole wild NC flounder with garlic, chiles, tamarind, fresh lime leaf, carrot salad, jasmine rice as your entree? For dessert, how about the Orange County muscadine and scuppernong grape sorbet or the Buttermilk panna cotta? This James Beard-award winning chef makes your decisions difficult but delicious!
Bill Smith has cooked amazing food for you at Crook’s Corner and La Residence, now he’s coming to your home to cook dinner for six. And he’ll make this unforgettable culinary experience as interactive as you’d like. Shop for ingredients with Bill at the Farmers’ Market. Create the menu with him. Make it a cooking party with guests sharing in the preparation. Or just sit down and enjoy his meal. It’s your party and Bill is your chef.
We are also pleased that Be Loud! Board Member Eric Montross and WUNC’s Freddy Jenkins have agreed to emcee the evening. We joked that the two should square off for some one-on-one basketball!
Attire
Please come enjoy yourself in what we’ll call “festive casual.” Leave your ties and fancy dresses at home and come in whatever helps you unwind. After all, this is a hootenanny in a barn (albeit a very nice one!)
