Frank met Mia, Katie, and Anne inside the Cradle the other day. Even though it was noon on a bright sunny day, it was dark in there, which is how Frank likes it. (And does anyone really need to see the Cradle in bright lights?) It was time to work out the details of the Get Your Be Loud On teen showcase happening at the Cat’s Cradle on March 14. What kinds of bands should go first and last? Where does an improv group and a spoken word poet best fit in? How many mics for how many amps? But no need to worry about how to handle ticket sales because the event is FREE. And of course a merch booth will be set up in the corner and the bar will serve soda and only soda.
Organized by the Be Loud! Sophie Club at East Chapel Hill High School, this showcase will bring onto the main stage of this legendary music club all kinds of groups and individuals to express their teenage life through music, performance, and visual arts. It all begins at 5pm and will go until about 8pm. A good place to get more information is on the event’s Facebook page.
In the spirit of Sophie, this will be an authentic, original experience planned by teens for the young at heart. Be there and be loud!
