“Oh, Sophie, I would have loved to have told you how good your work is. How full of joy and brightness it is. What a good eye you have for such a young woman. How your maturity, but also your playfulness (no contradiction there!) flies through the lens of the camera and onto the photographic print. I would have loved to have told you that I am also a dancer, and I would have thanked you for your writing, especially that special poem ‘Be Loud.’ But you are not with us anymore. So the best I can do is feel blessed to have had your magnificent photos on our walls, and that by doing so, the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation gathered interest, and followers, and donations.”
Janet Elbetri writes this in Sandwhich’s farewell newsletter. Her place has so many memories and meanings for us, and she epitomizes our community. And she is loud! Stop by before Sept. 21 at 4 for one more bite.
